Do I need to purchase the student manual?
As an AHA Authorized Training Site, it is our responsibility to make sure that each student has access to the appropriate Student Manual before, during, and after the class. So if you already own or have access to the most current version, you 'll need to bring it with you to class. If you don't own or have access to one, you will need to purchase one.
I purchased the student manual the last time I took the class. Can I just bring that one?
In February of 2016, the AHA released NEW student manuals with the latest scientifically based information based on the 2016 guidelines. The student manual needs to be the most current AHA version (like the ones pictured on the right).
How do I know if I have the most current Student Manual?
The most current student manual numbers are listed below
according to class type :
-BLS for Healthcare Providers (15-1010)
-Heartsaver CPR AED (90-1026)
-Heartsaver First Aid (90-1026)
-Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED (90-1026)
-Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid (90-1074)
Why does the AHA keep changing the Student Manual?
It may seem like the AHA changes the manual all the time. The truth is, the student manual is updated every 5 to 6 years. The science behind CPR is constantly being investigated and analyzed. Over time the AHA discovers changes that may increase the effectiveness of our lifesaving efforts. Possession of an updated student manual ensures that healthcare professionals and laypersons have access to the most current and effective methods for resuscitation throughout the term of the certification.
